Original title: <MSI Installer Failure>
Nov 04, 2010 Event ID 1033, status: 1603 When I am installing a simulation software on Windows 7 64bit the installation stops with a window popped up telling me 'The wizard was interrupted before application name could be completely installed'. This is due to an installation file failing. In order to get more information about the failure of the installer bring up a cmd and type in: msiexec.exe /i product.msi /l. c: log file name.txt It will go through the installer as normal but will create a log file that you can look at. During a one month period, I have over 12000 (twelve thousand) MSI Installer errors in my Event Log for Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7601. This is an OEM PC with Windows 7 64 Bits pre-installed with a Gigabyte GA78LMTS2P motherboard and 8 gigs of RAM.
Running Msiexec.exe returns a display indicating I am running version 5 of the Windows Installer but aside from that information, I am unable to repair or uninstall the product, since an Installation Package (MSI Installer) could not be found?

I have registered and unregistered the product, examined the registry values pointing to the location of msiexec.exe for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions and everything checks okay. Basically, any attempt to run any file entitled 'Setup.exe' results in a complete system lockup. I cannot reinstall/upgrade my system since the Windows DVD file is 'Setup.exe.' The Event ID is 11706 for all failures.
I have run SFC /scannow multiple times but msiexec.exe has never appeared in the CBS log? Simultaneously, all of the previously installed programs operate correctly.
All attempts to install any application were done with Elevated Privileges. I am seeking a recommenation on a resolution for this problem if possible as opposed to a complete reinstallation of Windows 7. Even some of the Windows Updates have failed during the automatic installation?
Thanks,
